Would you like to spend your summer hiking in the Rockies , kayaking and  exploring British Columbia? We’re doing a call out for all interested people who have a passion for hiking, kayaking, wildlife viewing and want to share their love of the great outdoors with our European guests.

Kanata Adventure Specialists is looking for guides for summer. The position could be a perfect fit for teachers, students or anyone who is looking for summer work and enjoys working with people! Imagine hiking in the Rockies, touring the Inside Passage or exploring some of Canada’s most loved National and Provincial Parks and being PAID!

We need people who speak German fluently and are eager to share local history, points of interest and answer questions. Share what locals know! 

The successful candidate will be guiding with a special emphasis on hiking, or kayaking , wildlife viewing and sightseeing. Tours are operated throughout Alberta and BC. 

Responsibilities:

  • coordinate pre-arranged accommodation and assure that tour members are comfortable
  • escort and oversee pre-arranged group excursions, monitor for safety practices
  • lead activities such as hiking , kayaking or canoeing
  • translate and interpret local history and points of interest, and respond to questions
  • attend to operational problems, resolve itinerary & other issues

Skills and Requirements: 

  • Must have class 4 driver’s license
  • Must have current Standard first aid and CPR certification
  • Strong leadership skills
  • should have fluent spoken German language skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Good customer service and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of Alberta and BC’s history, fauna & flora and points of interest
  • Ability to deal with physical demands of the position
  • IGA accreditation (Interpretive Guides Association) is an asset
  • Must be willing to attend a two day company guide training session

Trip Duration:

Trips duration varies  and operate from June through September.
